Post-Election Update~

For completely (or not so completely) unrelated literary activities, feel free to check out www.hanansays.com while we take a break from all things political and such!  Hopefully Sufi poetry and perspective is not so hard to come by there as those yard signs were!

Yes We Can (and Did!)

After 15 hours of voting on, volunteering for and finally celebrating and absorbing the change that election day brought we are just now coming back on line to recapture that amazing day in words and photos.  Bottom Line: We took Bucks County, we took Pennsylvania and the US followed!  Yes We Can!

What started with spontaneous T-shirt drawings in the morning (being the family billboard!) ended more than half a day later will be captured on a new page “Election Day” which hopefully will be up tonight.

Still speechless. Still happy. Still feeling the awesome power of feeling proud of being an American again.  Still feeling that my stepdaughter now will grow up knowing what it is like to have a competent, intelligent, thoughtful, wise and articulate President and that she and her generation, along with the generation that just voted for the first time, will have a quality standard by which all future US Presidents will be measured…and that she will be able to dream big and know that all is possible for her future, and for that of our nation.  More to come…

Bucks Co. Campaign Observations (11/1/08)

After two weeks of biking up and down southern Bucks Co. one interesting things stands out about the mood of the electorate (or at least the electorate that commutes during typical rush hours):

There are very few vehicles with McCain bumper-stickers of any kind.  Not like in 2004 and 2000 with the whole “W” sticker thing.  The in-your-face W-allegiance and the we’re so proud we won’t take the “W” off even 8 years into this mess stuff you still see far eclipses those willing to state out loud (visually) on their cars that they are McCain supporters.

On the other hand, whether homemade signs, printed off the Internet signs or official stickers, the number of Obama/Obama-Biden visuals on cars easily (in my pre-election observations) outmatches the other side by a factor of ten-to-one.

Side Note:  Canvassing today in the Bucks Co. burbs was interesting…a few “undecideds” out there for the convincing (or not), some really committed folks for Obama and the dead-ender 30% for the other guy.  Mostly a lot of post-Phillies-Pfestivities no-answers at doors.  Oh yeah, the Phillies winning the World Series was part one of my sign of good things to come.  Go Phils!

Special Note for PA voters: Wear what you want to polls!

According to the Associated Press, a PA state judge overruled two PA Counties (I believe one was Bucks) yesterday who sought to limit ‘partisan attire’ at polling places.  This means that if you wear anything on your person (like the yard sign) you are allowed to vote in PA.  There is no restriction to what you wear, period to vote in PA.  So feel free to express your pro-Obama-Biden style even as you vote!

For all the info on voting in PA, go to: VotesPA.com (or call 877/868-3772!)

Welcome! Time to Act.

Let’s face it.  Those Obama yard signs are hard to get…

This is a last-minute blog to give you low cost tips to get the word out for Obama-Biden up through November 4th, 2008.

Every vote should count and every visual counts to help remind and support voters.  My mission has been to ride my bike to work through southern Bucks County, a pivotal county in the pivotal state of Pennsylvania with a portable Obama-Biden yard sign on my back every day on my work commute.

Over the past two weeks, “being the billboard” has been an amazing experience…here are the simple steps to take your message to the streets!
